Sharon Carson

Biography:: See my oil and watercolor paintings in my studio at Eclipse Mill Artist Lofts, 4th floor, #401, next to the elevator.

My ideas come from sketching outdoors. Afterwards, painting in my studio, I begin the process of discovering a creative solution. I find an interesting aspect of the landscape and then freely change and invent whatever will give a sense of that subject without being literal. I’m guided by the principle “exaggerate the essential, eliminate the obvious” and enjoy the constant give and take, reacting to what I see and what I want, and accepting new ideas along the way.

My paintings are based on the Berkshire landscape, but what I’m really interested in is color, shapes, pattern, connections, rhythm, and most of all, personal expression.
