Ed Carson
- Artist Statement:
- One would think that after 25 years painting would become easier. It doesn’t. But that’s a good thing as it turns out because the struggle is a sign of growth and experimentation. For me, painting has little to do with the subject and everything to do with the canvas. The subject is just an excuse to paint. My recent concerns have to do with the relationship of the thing to the space around the thing, the tension between object and space, using space as a means of balance, and using both color and texture as a means of controlling the space. Still life painting has allowed me to explore some of these issues.
