Richard Harrington
- Artist Statement:
- Though the things I make may vary from year to year, they are inspired by the visual perception of light, color and geometry in various interactions.
- Biography:
- Richard Harrington is a native of Adams, MA, and currently lives in Northern Berkshire County. He has both a master and bachelor of fine arts from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.
His first experimented with digital printing in the early 70’s using a 3M Color-in-Color dye sublimation machine at MIT Press. At graduate school he began collaborating with Matt Belge on light installation and environmental artworks. For two decades Matt and Richard exhibited at MIT Center for Advanced Visual Studies, Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, the Herning Kunstmeum in Denmark, the DeCordova Museum, Lincoln, MA, and for the City of Cambridge Millennial festival in 2000.
He concurrently worked with laser and high-resolution inkjet printers since the early 90’s while working at Adobe Systems. Some of his prints are in the permanent print collection of the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University.
Richard’s prints can be seen on his website www.lughfineart.net, and it is currently available for sale at Hudsons, a gallery of fine art and antiques on the MassMoca campus in North Adams and Williamstown. He has also been working with vector based works collectively called 1.618 for about five years.
